Artistic License

The Artistic License is a software license used for various software packages, mosty notably Perl and some associated software.

The original version of the Artistic License was criticised for allegedly being ambiguous, self-contradictory and hard to interpret. The Free Software Foundation even went so far as to say it is not a free software license. However, in practical terms, this was not too much of an issue because virtually all important software under the Artistic License is also dual licensed under the GPL.
The Artistic License 2.0 is generally agreed to be free software license. This revised version is intended to be adopted for Perl when version 6 is released.
An early draft of the Artistic License 2.0, was released as the Clarified Artistic License and is also generally agreed to be a free software license.
